Exclusive breastfeeding for Lung Strengthen Children, Especially Children’s Asthma

Exclusive breastfeeding is very important for children in its infancy. Not only strengthensthe immune system, recent research proves that exclusive breastfeeding is also shown tostrengthen the respiratory system.

When entering the school age or about the age of 12 years, children are exclusively breast-fed his childhood lung function better than children fed infant formula. Uniquefunction of the lungs that actually looks very good for children who have mothers with asthma.

Researchers from Switzerland and the UK analyzed data from nearly 1,500 children bornin 1993 to 1997 in England. Researchers using questionnaires to determine the duration of breastfeeding, respiratory symptoms, and other exposure.

Lung function was measured when the child’s 12-year-old children. Children who are breastfed exclusively as a whole experienced an improvement in the flow of breath. To find out breathing children, the researchers used a test that measures the amount and speed ofthe air out of the lungs during exhalation.

“Children whose mothers breast fed exclusively with asthma also have better outcomes ontwo important indicators of tests of lung function,” said Dr. Claudia Kuehni, professor at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine at the University of Bern in Switzerland as reported by HealthDay.

Two tests are tests to measure the speed of change in the volume of air in the lungs duringa forced respiratory volume or so-called forced capacity (FVC), and the amount of air can be expelled in 1 second (FEV1). FVC and FEV1 is a key indicator of lung function.

The study, published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine isdismissed the notion that asthma patients should not breastfeed her child. Severalprevious studies suggest that breastfeeding can be harmful to the children of women whosuffer from asthma.
